Staff Sgt. Tony B. Olaes
   
   

Army SSG Tony Olaes, 30, of Walhalla, SC, was killed on September 20, 2004. 

He died in Shkin, Afghanistan, when his patrol vehicle was ambushed using small-arms fire and rock propelled grenades.  He was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group, Ft. Bragg, NC. 

Olaes attended Seneca High School, where he participated in wrestling, track, and tennis.  After the 11th grade, Olaes started his career in the military, where he earned his GED.
